Place:

Cummins Power Systems  1907 Park 100 Drive, Glen Burnie, Maryland 21061. The IEEE/IAS Baltimore Electrical Expo will be a special two-part event hosted by the Baltimore chapter IEEE/IAS in lieu of our traditional May tour. The afternoon session will consist of two technical seminars geared towards engineers. After the seminars are concluded, a special trade show will be conducted where local vendors can present products and services to local engineers and contractors. Catered pit beef and refreshments will be served. The expo will serve as the primary fundraising event for the Baltimore IEEE/IAS. The Baltimore IEEE/IAS supports engineering scholarships to local college students and partially subsidizes monthly dinner meetings throughout the year. Trade Show Description:

 The first half of the Electrical Expo will consist of an engineering seminar geared towards design and operation of backup generator system. The first session will focus on the generator topics and the second session will focus on switchgear and paralleling topics.

 Session #1 from 1:00-3:00PM will be taught by Gary Olson from Cummins.

  • Topics to include: generator ratings, generator sizing theory, generator mechanics for

  • engineers, and testing of generator sets. (2 PDH)

 Session #2 from 3:15-5:15PM will be taught by Mike Concannon and Steve Freitas from Russelectric.

  • Topics to include: Design differences between UL891 and UL1558, arc protection systems and design concerns, ATS cycle ratings, and switchgear generator paralleling. (2 PDH)

  •  The seminar will be limited to the first forty registrations due to space constraints.

  •  Seminar attendance will include admission to the expo and a catered buffet dinner after the conclusion of both sessions.

 Over twenty local vendors will have booths, product displays and mockups and will exhibit the latest in engineering product designs and technology.

 Admission will include a pit beef dinner and will act as our May social event.
